Leveling
Leveling rewards active members with XP, ranks, leaderboards, and optional level roles—encouraging conversation without spam.
What it does#
Members earn XP from messages based on your cooldown and channel rules. /rank and leaderboard commands show standing; level-up announcements can post to a channel you pick. Configure level roles so hitting tier milestones grants cosmetic or access roles automatically.
Free includes text XP, up to three level-role rewards, a top-10 leaderboard, and the default rank card. Pro adds voice XP, XP multipliers, deeper leaderboards, and custom rank card styling.
Dashboard path#
Dashboard → Servers → {Guild} → Leveling
Enable leveling, set XP rates and cooldowns, choose announcement and leaderboard channels, and map levels to roles. Disable XP in bot or staff channels to keep grinds fair.
Related features#
- Profile — display rank alongside profile when integrated
- Reaction roles — cosmetic roles separate from level milestones
- Welcome — mention leveling in onboarding
- Moderation — reset or restrict members who abuse XP
Fair XP design#
Set a cooldown between XP awards so copy-paste spam does not climb ranks. Exclude #bot-commands, #media-only, or AFK channels if your dashboard allows channel deny lists. Announce rules in #rules so members understand grinding limits.
Level roles on Free cap at 3 rewards—pick milestone roles that matter (for example levels 5, 15, 30). Cosmetic colors work well; gating #general behind XP is usually a bad experience.
Leaderboards and voice#
The Free leaderboard shows the top 10 members—enough for small and mid-size servers. Pro deepens leaderboards and enables voice XP for active voice channels. If you enable voice XP later, tell members so text-only grinders are not surprised.
Run /rank yourself after changing settings to confirm cards and numbers look right.
