Welcome
Welcome messages set the tone for new members and keep goodbyes polite when someone leaves. AIO delivers configurable text (and optional embeds) to a channel, a DM, or both when someone joins or leaves your server.
What it does#
When a member joins, AIO can post a greeting in a welcome channel, send a private DM, or run both. You control the message text, placeholders for member and server names, and which destinations are active. When someone leaves, an optional goodbye message can post to a farewell channel.
On Pro, you unlock richer options such as image welcome cards, additional templates, and multi-step onboarding flows. On Free, you get solid text-based welcome and goodbye messaging for one welcome channel.
Dashboard path#
Dashboard → Servers → {Guild} → Welcome
Enable the feature, choose your welcome and/or goodbye channels, edit message templates, and save. Test by having a second account join or by using Discord’s member preview tools if your server allows them.

Use placeholders documented in the dashboard (for example member mention and server name) so messages feel personal without hand-editing every join.

Tips for a strong first impression#
Keep welcome messages short and actionable—link to #rules, your ticket panel, or reaction-role channel instead of pasting long rule walls. If you send a DM, remember some members disable DMs from server members; always mirror critical info in a public welcome channel.
Goodbye messages are easy to overlook but help moderators spot patterns (for example members leaving right after a raid). Enable goodbye logging in Logging if you want join/leave history beyond the farewell text.
When you upgrade to Pro, plan image cards and onboarding steps before flipping switches—prepare artwork sizes and button labels in a draft doc so your team agrees on copy first.
Testing checklist#
- Save settings on Dashboard → Servers → {Guild} → Welcome
- Confirm AIO can post in the chosen channel (permissions)
- Join with a test account and verify channel and/or DM delivery
- Adjust placeholders if mentions or server name render incorrectly
